Worker migrant salary threshold increase from 1 October 2025

The Isle of Man Government has issued notice of an important change to the Immigration Rules that will take effect from 1 October 2025. This change increases the base minimum salary required for most new Worker Migrant visa applications under Appendix W.

What’s Changing?

From 1 October 2025, the global minimum salary for new Worker Migrants will rise to GBP 25,447.50 gross per year. This is an increase from the current threshold of GBP 20,800 per year.

However, it is important to understand that the salary required for a particular job may be higher than the global threshold. The actual minimum salary for a role will be the higher of:

  1. The global minimum threshold (GBP 25,447.50 from 1 October 2025); and
  2. The role-specific salary, based on the job’s SOC code and adjusted for the applicant’s age and experience.

If either of these minima is not met, the job will not be eligible for a Worker visa under Appendix W.

Act Now to Secure the Current Threshold

Until 30 September 2025, the global minimum salary remains GBP 20,800 per year. Applications submitted on or before that date will be assessed under the current lower threshold.

To benefit from the existing rules, prospective Worker Migrants must:

  1. Secure a suitable job offer from an Isle of Man employer;
  2. Obtain a Confirmation of Employment issued by the Isle of Man Immigration Service; and
  3. Submit their complete Worker visa application before the change takes effect.

We advise applicants and employers to act promptly, as the process involves several steps which must be completed before the deadline.

The new salary level is unlikely to apply to Confirmations of Employment issued before 1 October 2025, meaning that the lower salary level can continue for their current duration (up to three years). Any Confirmation of Employment required to extend the employment at that point will be subject to the then current minimum salary level.

Still a competitive option

Even with this increase, the Isle of Man’s Worker route remains more accessible than the UK’s equivalent Skilled Worker route. Since April 2024, the UK’s global minimum salary for skilled workers has stood at GBP 38,700, considerably higher than the Isle of Man’s new level.

The Island therefore remains a competitive destination for skilled workers across a range of industries. It offers an attractive mix of career opportunity, quality of life, and a straightforward immigration route.
